Efficiency of the ion exchange resin

TEST PARAMETERS ANALYSIS PARAMETERS STATUS METHOD*
Analysis of iron content in ion exchange resin Water softening using ion exchange resin consists in the removal of components which cause hardness of the water by means of exchanging calcium and magnesium ions (responsible for water hardness) for sodium ions. This process occurs as water flows through ion exchange resin. If the water contains high levels of iron, these ions are also absorbed by the resin. The iron ions are not removed during regeneration and thus the ion exchange efficiency of the resin decreases.

Iron content (Fe)
Scope: (0 – 100) mg/l Fe
Low contamination, unlikely to cause serious problems at work.
Range: (100 – 250) mg/l Fe
Medium to high level of contamination.
Possible problems: limited efficiency, poor water quality
Range: (> 250) mg/l Fe
Very high level of contamination.
Possible problems: limited efficiency, poor water quality
Cleaning would not result in prolonged time of work.
